Boy, the Labour Day long

Friday, August 31st, 2001

Boy, the Labour Day long weekend really snuck up on me. I haven’t made any plans at all.

Well, that’s not true. I’m going to see Patricia O’Callaghan again tonight. I’ve seen her perform at the Rivoli a couple of times, but never at a theatre-type venue. (Well, there was that gig at Massey Hall, but that doesn’t count.)

Here’s some more stuff I’ve written about Trish.

If you’re still curious about what’s with all this larping stuff I’ve been talking about, the Toronto Star did an article about it.

It’s about a different club with different rules but they’re very similar.

This site’s evil twin has switched hands again.

Last time I checked, johnbowman.com was owned by a squatter in Australia. Now, it’s being hawked by some New Yorker, who wants $100 for it.

A hundred bucks!? American!?

Dream on. At least, I won’t buy it.

Maybe John Bowman, the comedian, will buy it.

Or John Bowman, the tanning magnate.

Oh, wait. He’s dead.

I think it’s hilarious that the Democratic Representative Caucus, the group of “dissident” Canadian Alliance MPs, is routinely being called the Rebel Alliance on CBC Radio News.

Two related items passed under my mouse today: “Seven Habits of Sensitive, Celibate Men” and “Dickless Wonder Syndrome - What Is It?”

Is the Internet – like some world-wide, virtual Magic Hate Ball – trying to tell me something?

And now for something completely different…

The Canadian women’s hockey team that history has forgotten: the Edmonton Swastikas.

I don’t suppose that team photo is up on the wall of some community rink in Edmonton, eh?

I found the pic (through memepool) on the Web site of ManWoman, author of Gentle Swastika: Reclaiming the Innocence.

Wednesday, August 8th, 2001

My article on the SirCam worm is still getting quite a few hits, even though it’s not linked from the CBC front page anymore… and I found out why.

I’ve been Yahooed!

There was a lot of hype about Code Red earlier this week. And, I’ll admit I was part of that.

Here’s a good comment on the media’s coverage of Code Red. Oddly enough, Time.com is owned by the same company as the chief hype monkey.

Some Code Red humour from Aislin.

You’ll have to have watched some Canadian TV to get this one, I’m afraid.
