The CBC launched a new Web site today: CBC Archives.

This is quite a piece of Web work. Canada’s recent history told through archival audio and video.

And not just politicians and hockey players, either.

Check out this montage of prospective Canadian flag designs. I’ve been looking for something like this for years.

I was pleased to find a page on Africville and surprised to see one on the punk scene in Canada.

I tried to get a job on this project, but I don’t think I was very well prepared for the interview.

I’m glad to see they put out a good site without me. ;-)

Hmmm… Maybe getting out of town would be the best way to deal with this outside workers strike.

I certainly wouldn’t want to walk through Chinatown in the next few days. *scary*

Alison is one of the protestors “invading” Ottawa today. (D’oh! They changed their headline. It said “invading,” I swear!)

She was anxious about all this week, as she was getting her medic gear organized.

I’m sure she’ll be fine. (Knock Ikea wood)

First, it was the Hero Machine. Then, South Park Studio.

Now, the Mini-Mizer invites you to create your very own Lego minifig. Keen!

I hate to admit it, but my new cell phone is coming in really handy.

Three times yesterday, I was able to meet up with Alison solely because we both had cell phones.

Oh, and apparently, the model we got is now owned by 42 per cent of Toronto’s population.

Looks like it’ll be another quiet night in my neighbourhood. South Korea 2 - Italy 1.

I had pretty much written off Korea’s chances when I left for work this morning. When I got into work, though, everyone was gathered around the TV, watching a sea of Red Devils celebrating their team’s overtime victory.

Maybe I’ll put up my South Korean flag again. They play Spain next and, if they win that, the winner of U.S. and Germany. I could see Korea in the final.

But then, what the hell do I know?

I have to agree with Eirik.

Best. Test. Ever.

No, that wasn’t my actual result. I just picked the one I liked best. Sue me.

For those who don’t want to deal with Radio 3’s Flash site, here’s the link to the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club session mentioned below (RealPlayer required).

Actually, I like the songs a lot more on second listen. Definitely worth checking out.

Quote of the day:

“Sorry about my voice. It’s really early in the morning.”

— Peter Hayes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, at a North by Northeast session for Radiosonic, at about 2:30 this afternoon.

You’ll be able to watch the whole session on CBC Radio 3’s NxNE site.

An e-mail I just sent off to Tara:

I’m good today. Things with Alison are better. Being fired from Quirks means I don’t have to stay after work late, so I’ll probably cook myself more.

Alison and I are making an effort to eat in more. It’s cheaper and probably healthier (although eating at Juice For Life must be good you, right?)

Karate went really well last night. I think I’m actually getting better, and not just learning new katas.

Overall, things are OK.
