Announcing a strategic partnership between Macromedia and Nielsen Norman Group

Yeah, that’s Macromedia, makers of Flash, and Jakob Neislen, author of Flash: 99% Bad.

I know a few Flash designers who’ll go nuts over this. You have to applaud Macromedia’s committment to usability, though. It appears they know there are issues with Flash and they want to address them.

Incidently, here’s a quote from Jakob’s latest article:

Basically, we now have the entire elite online: Almost all early adopters, technology enthusiasts, and highly educated people use the Internet. The next decade will bring the usability challenge of making the Internet sufficiently easy for the other half of the population to use.

Ah, yes. The “other half.” Those drooling troglodytes who haven’t even figured out AOL yet. Poor slobs.

This hasn’t been a good day.

For one thing, you won’t be hearing my name at the end of Quirks and Quarks anymore. I messed up the Web page this weekend and it wasn’t the first time. They’d had enough and I can’t blame them.

Things aren’t exactly going swimmingly with Alison, either. I just can’t get my shit together.

You should see my apartment. If ever a domicile were a metaphor for the life of its occupant…

It didn’t help that I brought a bunch of stuff from my parents’ place this weekend. Another several boxes taking up space.

The cats like sitting on them, though.
