I joined the pre-masters program

Thursday, July 25th, 2002

I joined the pre-masters program in karate yesterday. It basically means I pay another big chunk of money to go to smaller, more advanced classes.

Oh, and I get to play with the kobudo weapons a lot more.

For my membership fee, I got a pair of sais (y’know, like Raphael used), a pair of tonfas (mmm… mahogany night sticks) and a bo staff.

Maybe I’ll finally learn exactly how to use a staff in a fight, eh?

I don’t think the Velcro

Thursday, July 25th, 2002

I don’t think the Velcro is period and I’ll have to do something about the Ferrari-like crest on the waist, but I think my new Sportkilt will look just fine at the next Epoch event.

Hell, I might wear it to Hillside this weekend.

My kilt and my cowboy hat. I wonder just how much I can embarrass Alison…

Monday, July 22nd, 2002

I went to my parents’ new house in Cobourg this weekend.

It was weird going inside for the first time, kinda like my parents were living in someone else’s place.

Now it’s more like my parents’ house changed shape and moved down to the 401. Same furniture. Same wigged-out TV with no green channel. Same cat who hates me.

Oops, I did it again.

Oops, I did it again.

Number one story. Boo-ya.

I’m just the stats monkey around here.

Outdoor-Music-Festival Grounds Mistaken For Refugee Camp

I hope this doesn’t happen at Hillside next weekend.

Number one story on CBC.ca today?

Yup, that one’s mine.

Birthday greetings so far: From

Monday, July 15th, 2002

Birthday greetings so far:

From Alison, Jidge and Donna.

Thanks!

Also, I should try to record my two little nieces singing “Happy Birthday” to me on my voice mail and post that.

Thank you, Tara, for my cooler. I liked being able to pick my own present from a small selection.

And thanks to Mom and Dad for the jelly beans, balloons and embarassing pictures. Alison really liked the latter.

I ordered a sport kilt

Thursday, July 11th, 2002

I ordered a sport kilt in the “Morrison” tartan for Uilleam today.

This weekend probably won’t be too hot, so I can get away with wearing my regular belted plaid.

But in August? Better to have a wee kilt.

(Although, I actually remember being kinda cold the first night of the August event last year…)
