This is what I meant to post before Blogger crashed on me:
Yesterday, nostalgia was a bright, bittersweet feeling.
I watched the football game and the engineering students’ antics from the safety of the alumni side of the field. I walked with friends down Princess Street, noting the changes in the store fronts. I got blissfully drunk at a couple of campus bars and, of course, danced like the Doctor of Funk that I am.
How could the Alfie’s DJ not have any Prince?
Today, nostalgia is a dull ache in my chest.
I wandered around campus and marvelled at the changes being made. New arts centre, new chemistry building, new resisdence. I walked past both of my own former residences and down to the lake. As I walked, the memories kept coming, as if they are already there, invisible fields hanging in the air, and I was just walking through them.
I sat on a park bench near the lake and watched the water break against the rocky shore. When I went to school here, I would go come down here to walk on the rocks and talk things out with someone, or clear my head on my own.
Today, one thought seemed to keep floating to the surface:
I wish Tara were here.
Dammit.
*kicks Blogger*
Damn you! You screwed up at the worst possible time!
I do this every morning.
Saturday morning, I’m off to Kingston for Queen’s Homecoming. Yeah, it’s been five years since I graduated. *boggle*
I’ve already arranged to meet a couple of friends from my year and I hope to see someone people from residence from first year.
Got the belt, but I had to sacrifice several layers of sole skin and a few toe nails for it.
I know. It’s gross. Deal.
I found a video of the kata I’ll have to perform for my purple-black belt test in karate tomorrow.
The movie’s not exactly the same as the way we perform it, but it’ll help me remember the moves.
The Wolf had another surprise for me today.
I’m going to be put on staff tomorrow.
Yay!
I’d post my news rant from yesterday, but I scribbled most of it on the back of my scripts while recorded interviews were playing.
Suffice it to say that it involved a protest at Concordia, Izzy Asper and Godwin’s Law of Usenet discussions.
