Entertaible? Really? That’s what you came up with?

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

Cool gadget with an awful name: the Entertaible by Philips a horizontal touch-screen that combines electronic gaming and traditional board games.

Hey, Iff, I wonder if it’s possible to program your own games into it. That would make the logistics for your game* a lot easier.

(*Is it called Operation Teardrop? I can’t remember. LJ needs a search function.)

More nerdiness

From the Star Trek inspirational posters:

FIZZBIN

It actually doesn’t seem that complicated if you’ve ever played Arkham Horror.

I’ve seen the Trek episode and played the game referenced. Oy.

Nerdy, nerdy me

How nerdy am I?

Well, my wife and I went to a Shakespeare-by-the-Sea production of The Wizard of Oz in Halifax, which contained lots of fourth-wall-breaking modern references.

At one point, the Wicked Witch threatens to send a pack of wolves against Dorothy and the crew.

The Tin Woodsman answers back, “My axe is +3 against wolves!”

I was the only one who laughed. And I laughed my ass off.

Cooler than an iPod?

An article I wrote yesterday for the new CBC Tech section on the new SanDisk music player has been Slashdotted.

I might not have posted this if it hadn’t been for a new definition of cool in the /. post’s comments:

How about Bruce Willis on a hoverboard listening to bootleg OGGs of George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic on a homemade altoids-tin music player, kissing Salma Hayek, and fighting Christopher Walken, Jet Li, the Rock, and an army of robot sharks with rocket-packs?

Gotta admit. That’s pretty darn cool. Except the sharks need frickin’ lasers on their foreheads.
