I graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in biology in 1997 and from the University of King’s College with a degree in journalism in 2000.
After riding the last wave of the dot-com boom at an ill-fated Toronto start-up company, I joined CBCNews.ca in January 2001. I started blogging for the CBC with the Blog Report on Canada Votes 2006.
I’ve been online since 1993 after I convinced his parents my Commodore 64 wouldn’t cut it in university. I’ve kept a blog in one form or another since before I’d heard of the word “blog.”
The John Bowmans I am not
I am not Irish historian and broadcaster John Bowman. I think his pronounced to rhyme with “cow-man.”
I am not comedian John Bowman, the one who opens for Lewis Black. I am not comedy writer/producer John Bowman. I am not Writers’ Guild of America negotiator John Bowman. Stop sending me his stuff.
I am not any of a number of John Bowmans in academia, the Canadian mathematician, the American transportation systems modeler or the Australian microbiologist.
I am not John Bowman of John Bowman Chevrolet in Clarkson, Mich.
I am not John Bowman, defensive end for the Montreal Alouettes.
I am not any of the John Bowmans on Wikipedia. Most of them appear to be dead.

Is there an email address I can contact you at? I’m a journalism student at Centennial College and we’re looking for gatekeepers (experts in their field) for a major assignment (how digital technology affects the general public). Your help would be greatly appreciated.
